Video Editor Portfolio · Nairobi, Kenya

Nebai Ngugi Kimani.

Video editor, producer and multimedia journalist, recognised at the VUKA Film Festival 2025. I lead AV production at NAMU Africa, a PR and communications agency, cutting weekly podcasts across long-form and short-form, and grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

The Work

Broadcast Feature

EditorDirector

A broadcast journalism piece I edited and directed. Structured for television pacing: tight interview cuts, motivated B-roll, and a narrative arc that earns its runtime.

Documentary

ProducerEditorDirector

A documentary I produced, edited and directed end to end: research, field production, then the edit, where the story was actually found and shaped.

Brand Launch Video

Video EditorVideographer

Client launch film, shot and edited for a brand moment: clean coverage on the day, then a cut built around energy, rhythm and the client's key messages.

Brand Message Video

Video EditorVideographer

A brand message piece where the edit carries the persuasion: pacing, music and graphics working together so the audience lands exactly where the brand needs them.

International Youth Day Commemoration

Video EditorVideographer

A brand commemoration film for International Youth Day, published on NAMU Africa's TikTok. Built for the vertical feed: fast hooks, tight rhythm and a message that lands inside the first seconds.

The thinking behind the cutting

Season analytics reports, content calendars, SOPs and pitches. I edit with the data in mind: retention curves, watch time and platform behaviour shape how I structure a cut. These are documents, so they live in a folder you can browse.

Communication: Africa's Most Overlooked Development Infrastructure

Production Lead

A high-level continental webinar convened by DevCom Africa, March 2026. I led the live production end to end: 106 participants across Botswana, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda and Mauritius, with five speakers bridging Anglophone and Francophone Africa, delivered as a clean, broadcast-grade stream.

Who Tells Africa's Story, and Who Benefits From It?

Production Lead

The Africa Day edition, May 2026, with a panel spanning South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana and Kenya, including a global communications director at Mars and a government ministry director of communication. Two editions in, the series runs as a repeatable live production system.

Impact Film · Change A Life Initiative

Producer

The flagship impact film for Change A Life Initiative, an NGO that grew out of NAMU Africa and now stands alone. I've been part of the organisation since its NAMU days, as a volunteer in its programmes and as the producer of its video communication, work that has positioned it for recognition and donor partnerships including SportPesa.

Pitch Film · Wellness Games Day

Producer

A pitch film built to win partners for the Wellness Games Day programme: the case for support, made in video, where the edit has to do the fundraising.

VUKA Film Festival 2025 · Nairobi, Kenya

1st Runner-Up, Best Director

Awarded for direction that put story above spectacle: every frame motivated, every cut earning its place.

VUKA Film Festival 2025 · Nairobi, Kenya

2nd Runner-Up, Best Cinematography

Recognition for the camera work behind the cut. Knowing how an image is built makes me a sharper editor: I cut with the cinematographer's intent in mind.
